Solange Knowles Dishes On Relationship With Beyonce & Baby Blue Ivy

Solange Knowles is a star in her own right. She sings, she’s a DJ, and she seems like she’s an all around good person. Solange recently did an interview with New York magazine discussing her relationship with her sister, and how their kids are growing up more as sister/brothers instead of cousins.

Checkout out a few highlights below:

On growing closer to Beyonce after her divorce: It was a time “when you really, really need your sister. Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call. Now it’s kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me.”

On raising her son Julez and niece Blue Ivy together: “Blue (10 months) comes over, I babysit,” says Solange. “(Beyoncé) takes Julez (8) sometimes for the weekend. (Blue) and Julez are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”

On moving Julez from L.A. to NYC to get away from Hollywood: “He actually told my mom, ‘Spider-Man is our neighbor!’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, we have to leave.’ “

On leaving Interscope to make her own music: “Lil Wayne was on the same (parent) label, rapping over every single person’s songs on all of his mixtapes, and no one ever complained because I’m sure he just put it out and said ‘(Expletive) you.’ I was saying ‘(Expletive) you’ so much that they were like, ‘Well, you don’t have to be here.’ “
