The Attackers

When internet thuggin’ turns into real life, real things happen. I hate that our young ladies are acting like animals. Now they have to be caged away. Girls do better in life, make better decisions. Why would you ever attempt to harm another person so badly by throwing hot grease on them? This isn’t what life’s about. I feel so sorry for our youth.

A Cobb County judge sentenced a woman to 40 years Wednesday for attacking other women with hot oil after an argument broke out on Instagram.

Myzelle Chantel Armstrong, 19, was convicted Friday of aggravated battery and aggravated assault for attacking four women.

In February last year, two groups of women began bickering over messages and photos published on the social media site and decided to meet to fight at the Cumberland Glenn Apartments in Smyrna.

Armstrong held open the car door as fellow defendant Zawadi Clark threw the oil on the women. The attack left Ashley Hardy with second degree burns and lifetime scars, according to Channel 2 Action News. One victim had to undergo skin grafting as a result of the burns, Reynolds said.

At sentencing Wednesday, Armstrong tearfully apologized for her role in the incident. “Again I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” she said.

Assistant District Attorney Jaret Usher pointed out the use of hot oil wasn’t like a rock picked up in a fight. Heating it on a stove required premeditation.

Judge Robert D. Leonard II sentenced Armstrong to four years in prison and 36 years on probation.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Myzelle Armstrong of Smyrna was found guilty of two counts of aggravated battery and eight counts of aggravated assault. Armstrong was sentenced to four years in prison and 36 years of probation. Co-defendant Zawadi Clark of Marietta pleaded guilty as the trial began and was sentenced to three years in prison and 37 on probation. Prosecutors say charges are pending against a 22-year-old Morrow woman.
