Cuffing Season

The seasons are changing. So are the men. It’s that time of year again.

It never fails, each year when we say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn there is a noticeable shift in the dating scene. The people are out and they are lurking for someone to spend time with and hibernate with until spring. People start asking you out on dates, you are invited to watch Netflix to chill, you get those random texts from your ex boos, and all of a sudden you have options to pick from and you are seriously considering settling down. Let’s face it, its no fun being single during the holidays while all your friends are coupled up. However who wants to date someone for just a season?

Even though we may not like to admit it, Cuffing Season is real. It usually starts around Labor Day and you’re cuffed before the start of winter…..if you’re in the game. The idea of this may seem a little rudimentary, but this is what we are dealing with while dating in 2015.

Urban Dictionary defines cuffing season:

During the fall and winter months people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves, along with the rest of the world, desiring to be “cuffed” or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed.

I will be discussing Cuffing Season this week on my radio show, only on Sunday from 8-10pm.
