4 Impeccable Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season

I love the holidays. Christmas signifies a time of family, sharing, and giving. This year I want to do more for the community by giving back. I want my children to know the importance of giving to others and being selfless. I am a strong believer in supporting charities, standing up for great causes, and giving back to my community year-round. Giving back comes with such a rewarding feeling.

To inspire you to give back this season, I’ve put together 4 charitable ways you can contribute to your community. Take a look below and discover how you can make a difference during the holidays…

  1. Make cards for hospitalized kids. This is something great to do with younger children as well. This is a crafty, fun, and easy act of kindness that does not require much time. Write a sweet inside of the card, this will surely make someone smile.
  2. Gift blankets to the homeless. During this time of year it can get extremely cold. Do not take for granted the luxury of staying warm when its cold outside. We may forget that everyone does not have a home or place to go when it’s cold and snowing. You can grab new or used, freshly washed blankets and hand them out to the homeless in your town or the inner-city.
  3. Adopt a family. The Salvation Army has a great program, Adopt-A-Family. They match an impoverished family with a group of people who plan to provide an entire Christmas for their “adopted family.” You can sign up with your family or a group of friends to shop for your adopted family’s presents on their Christmas list and deliver them on Christmas morning. Go to Salvation Army to learn more.
  4. Serve at a soup kitchen. In my opinion, the most valuable ways to give back involve interacting with the people you’re helping. Volunteering at a local soup kitchen during the holidays is a great way to have a hands-on experience with community service. The way it works is you arrive at the kitchen with a group of volunteers in the late afternoon to prepare a giant meal for the homeless that evening.

There are several ways you can give back this Holiday Season.

What are some things you have done in the past or what are you planning to do this season to give back?

I love give back stories, please feel free to share.
